This project tasked me with creating any sort of representation of an object through any logical connections I could make. I was randomly selected to create a representation of a lily pad. My first thought after being given a lily pad was Claude Monet’s famous Bridge over a Pond of Water Lilies. My elementary art professor had us try and recreate this specific painting, focusing on texture and shape, so I was already very familiar with the painting. After conducting research, I discovered that ancient Mayan irrigationists used water lillies as a sign of water cleanliness.
Using these two ideas in combination, I created a high-end sparkling water company, emphasizing water cleanliness, called Monet. The tagline “Where taste meets opulence” is symbolized in the bridge across the pond of water lilies in Monet’s painting. It’s connecting two pieces of separated land — taste and opulence — and connecting them.
